Daily pressure, tight deadlines, and increasing responsibilities can make our lives increasingly hectic. In this context, it becomes essential to learn how to manage stress to preserve our psychophysical balance.
How Wellmatch was born: a natural approach to well-being
Lavinia Roma, former athlete and founder of Wellmatch, has personally experienced the challenges related to mental health. Her personal experience and research have led her to develop a holistic approach to well-being and to understand that "sports, nutrition, and relaxing practices are key to finding one's inner balance."
She then decided to create an application that would bridge the gap between wellness service providers and clients. A true marketplace that connects wellness professionals with those seeking natural solutions to improve their quality of life.
In line with this natural vision of well-being, AVÀSH was born from the need to find natural remedies that act by considering each individual as a whole and that also help us manage stress. Our supplements are, in fact, based on herbs and adaptogenic plants that support the body in managing stressful situations, preventing cortisol levels from rising.
From this sharing of values, the first AVÀSH Live Talk was born. Keep reading to discover the highlights of the interview between Ilaria Bici, founder of AVÀSH, and Lavinia Roma.
The pillars of well-being according to Lavinia Roma
To achieve mental health, there isn't a single applicable solution. Multiple good habits are needed that work in synergy and contribute to our psychophysical well-being.
Sport comes first. According to Lavinia, "whether it's a yoga class, running, taking a walk, or stretching. I recommend doing sports in the morning, rather than checking emails, a completely different way to start the day, a way to take care of yourself."
Second is a greater awareness of what we eat every day, so paying attention to our nutrition. "It's not about dieting and paying attention to calories. It's about consciously choosing foods that can truly nourish our body, paying attention to the quality of the ingredients."
Third are all those relaxing practices that offer us the opportunity to vent our emotions and, through this, to manage stress and keep it away from our daily lives.
For example, Lavinia practices "active meditation, breathing and visualization exercises, drawing, writing, and doodling."
These are, however, subjective choices. Each of us should seek the most suitable natural solution for ourselves to manage stress and our emotions.
Practical tips for stress management
Sport, nutrition, and relaxing practices can help us manage daily stress. However, it is also important to change our mindset, be patient and kind to ourselves, listen to ourselves, and make time for ourselves.
Starting with "stopping believing that our life is a speed race. We must stop believing that everything must always be perfect. We must start thinking of our life, if anything, as a marathon and be aware that on some occasions it is also possible to stumble."
Together with Lavinia, we then identified another 5 strategies we can immediately use to not be overwhelmed by routine, thoughts, and emotions we experience.
- Establish a morning routine to dedicate some time to listening as soon as the alarm rings. "It is necessary to have this time for ourselves, to put ourselves in a position to do our best, to put ourselves in a position to plan so that anxiety does not arrive and it is possible to manage stress as best as possible. Taking it easy, that's the key, without any pressure, so we can feel good about ourselves."
- Learn to ask for help when needed. "It's okay to delegate. We are not superheroes, and that's okay. Without forgetting that people come first. There is no task so important to do, no goal so important to achieve, as making the people we love happy. We must learn to always put them first, even if that means learning to say no, to delegate, to let go."
- Celebrate small successes, appreciate every progress. "We must remember that life is a journey, not a destination. What matters is not reaching the finish line immediately. What matters is progress. We must therefore take the time to enjoy our successes, however small they may be, and be proud of what we are building."
- Accept that not every day will be perfect, that you need to be patient and, above all, remember that "we are doing our best, that's what we must tell ourselves, trying to never be too hard on ourselves."
- Put people before goals, and this is also possible through a routine that makes us feel safe and gives us a sense of serenity that we can share with those around us.
Managing stress: what we've learned
Managing stress is not easy, but fortunately, many elements can help us in this endeavor. Sport allows us to counter anxiety and stress, a real outlet. Nutrition offers us the possibility to feel better and contributes to our psychophysical well-being. Relaxing practices make us focus on our emotions, so as to have a more positive approach to life.
However, all this alone is not enough. We must learn to delegate. Otherwise, we will find ourselves so burdened with commitments that we cannot carve out time for ourselves. Not only that, we may not have the necessary time to dedicate to others, to all the people we love.
We must also learn to be lenient. Life is not a race, a competition to see who arrives first. Life deserves to be slow, serene. What matters is the journey, how we face it, one step at a time. And of all these steps, we must learn to be proud.
